Mechanical Reliability Specialist

 

Job Requirements & Expectations:

AltaSteel invites applications for a Mechanical Reliability Specialist to join the Reliability Services Team at our Edmonton Facility. 

 

The incumbent will develop and refine the mechanical equipment maintenance strategy in a systematic and professional manner based on equipment criticality and risk.  This position is responsible for using the principles of equipment performance and condition evaluation to preserve rated production capability and safety of mechanical systems.

 

The essential job functions include:

 

  • Guide efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, control loops, and safety systems.
  • Define, develop, administer, and refine the mechanical equipment preventive/predictive maintenance program based on equipment criticality, risk, and condition management. 
  • Reduce and improve maintenance work wherever feasible; assuring efficient and productive operation of plant, process, and equipment; while protecting and prolonging the economic life of plant assets; all at the least (optimal) cost practical.
  • Develop and administer reliability information systems for failure analysis and performance improvement.
  • Provide technical advice to maintenance and operations.

 

A Mechanical Engineering Degree or a Mechanical Technologist Diploma with a minimum of five years of experience working in a heavy industrial maintenance environment is required.  A fundamental understanding of Mechanical Equipment Condition Management (vibration, IR, fluid analysis, lubrication) and Proactive Maintenance Theory is an asset.

 

You must have an ability to work with and direct a multi-discipline workforce.  Possess strong Project Management and interpersonal skills (liaison with learners, various levels of management, maintenance and operation personnel, support departments, external training providers.
