Ball Stock

High carbon custom-engineered ball stock grades, designed with toughness and wear attributes in mind, are central in AltaSteel’s grinding media lineup. Offered in sizes ranging from 1.0” to 4.0”, we produce ball stock as round bar which is manufactured (rolled-formed or upset forged and heat treated) into grinding balls or SAG balls by our customers.

Our ball stock is designed to meet a vast array of quality attributes, including thru-hardening steel capability, fine-grained, micro-cleanliness compliant to industry standards, and industry-low hydrogen levels. With in-house laboratory capabilities and access to hydrogen testing equipment, our produced materials undergo microstructural evaluation, grain size measurement, and hardness testing.
