Mechanical Maintenance Planner
The Mechanical Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating and scheduling mechanical maintenance activities within the Bar Mill. The successful candidate will be a mechanically inclined self-starter with in-depth mechanical knowledge. Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule short-term and long-term maintenance, regular down days and major shutdowns within the Bar Mill with the goal to achieve zero breakdowns and achieving cost as per budget
- Facilitate sound decision making by prioritizing work, equipment reliability, and accurate time and resource estimates
- Develop and prepare work packages and maintenance plans for Mechanical jobs within Bar Mill
- Coordinate with all discipline planners and specialists for the planning of all related work orders that are within the scope of the area assigned
- Define the correct levels of inventory for spares and consumables in coordination with stores
- Input and continuous improvement of the maintenance, planning, scheduling and data integrity processes and standards
- Report scheduling and planning activities
- Supports emergency situations by providing planning and troubleshooting assistance to the supervisors and trades as needed
- Monitor the proper use of the PM module by individuals and provide feedback to the supervisors and superintendents for taking proper actions
- Coordinate, manage and supervise contractors
- Develop maintenance and project budgets and estimates
- Include a high level of safety into the planning and execution process, including but not limited to JSAs (Job Safety Analysis)
- Lead and participate in various planning and scheduling meetings
- At times this role requires covering for the Supervisor, when absent
- At times this role requires supervising contractor activities
Qualifications and Skills
- Journeyperson Millwright Certification, Mechanical Technologist Diploma or equivalent
- Supervision experience is required
- 3 + years of experience in Mechanical Planning
- 3 + years of extensive experience installing and maintaining system
- Knowledge of and experience working with a CMMS program
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working as a maintenance planner is an asset
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to prioritize jobs and tasks efficiently
- Excellent organization
- Experience with overhead cranes is an asset
- Ability to interpret and edit mechanical drawings
- Mechanical system commissioning is an asset
