Scrap Auditor
Reporting to the Yard & Scrap Inspection Supervisor, the Scrap Auditor works in a fast-paced environment. Acting as the first point of contact for quality assurance within the plant, the individual must be accurate and detail oriented. In addition, the incumbent would ideally enjoy working closely with colleagues and forming new working relationships daily with drivers.
Responsibilities:
- Performs inspection on steel scrap received on site from suppliers. Close attention is required to identify out of specification materials.
- Understands and follows requirements of the AltaSteel Scrap Steel Specification.
- Uses tools for chemical analysis of scrap steel samples.
- Sorts through and quarantines non-conforming material/s.
- Records results of scrap inspections for internal records and communication of non-conformances to suppliers. Inspect and ensure the quality of incoming products
- Follow proper procedures and processes
- Adapt to and problem solve scenarios as they arise
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong safety and customer mindset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- An excellent eye for detail and good judgment
- Good math, reading, and writing skills are required
- Ability to use Microsoft Office and site-specific database
- Able to do manual labor and lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
