Inventory Analyst
The Inventory Analyst will have the ability to work within cross-functional teams and operational groups as an integral part of the Stores & Inventory team, responsible for assessing and improving the utilization of inventory within the supply chain, strategic logistics channels, and for accurate associated reporting.
The key focus will be on Inventory management and control, and the optimization of associated cost opportunities, and will be linked with complementary strategic logistics solutions. Inventory optimization is a key motivator in this role, ensuring appropriate levels of inventory are managed through a range of supply chain techniques. The focus remains on minimizing plant delays due to stockouts while maximizing profitability by utilizing inventory turns, with right-sized inventory.
The Inventory Analyst must be a self-starter who can manage competing priorities in an organized capacity and have a motivating and effective communication style.
Responsibilities
- Understand and manage the requirements and deliverables to meet replenishment demand whilst optimizing cost opportunity.
- Identify item criticality and stocking models to target reduction or right sizing opportunities.
- Review inventory forecast/planning parameters on a regular basis and at the direction of Management.
- Monitor and improve inventory performance of stock items.
- Analyze and review the inventory movement data and recommends strategies.
- Investigate material usage variances in excess of standards, identify root cause, and recommend corrective action.
- Provide analytical support and statistical analysis of data to support projects and team initiatives.
- Respond to non-routine requests for financial information and analysis.
- Transact inventory movements in ERP system.
- Planning and coordination of product logistics to meet required delivery deadlines.
- Generate reports (inventory projections and consumption, sales forecast, obsolete stock and aging inventory, etc.) on the regular basis.
- Identify and create processes to put in to practice for process improvement for all types of inventory management.
- Act as the backup Supervisor to the Warehouse, managing a group of Bargaining Unit employees for coverage purposes.
- Support development of departmental performance measures and track progress to established KPIs.
- Support the organization in regard to ongoing opportunities and approaches to improve team and stakeholder communication and reporting.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5 years of Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain or related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Supply chain or related field.
- Past inventory management experience in a manufacturing setting considered an asset.
- Strong computer skills including advanced excel skills, pivot table, v-lookup.
- Demonstrate process improvement mindset.
- Ability to look a process as whole and determine logical process flow, accounting for risks, and subsequent resolutions.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and to work under pressure within specified timelines.
- Strong skills around judgment, setting priorities, objectives and planning and organizing.
- Proven ability to create and implement process changes or improvements.
- Ability and desire to be a leader, informally and formally.
- Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, written and oral communication skills.
- High attention to detail is required.
Job Details
- Full-time, permanent opportunity
- Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm
- Full time in-office/operations, in Edmonton, Alberta (no remote or hybrid)
