Bar Mill Metallurgist

In 2007 I began work in Australia for AltaSteel's parent company. I was a PhD student at the UNSW, The School of Material Science and Engineering and was employed to work on a project that involved slag foaming with waste plastic in Electric Arc Furnace Steel. Following the completion of the project I moved on to work as a Graduate Metallurgist within the parent company.

I decided to move my family to Canada and ended up accepting a position within AltaSteel. Presently, I am working as the Bar Mill Metallurgist and QA Supervisor. The transition to Canada and to AltaSteel was a great experience for me and my family. I have been enjoying my experience with AltaSteel because of its diversified work force and friendly work environment. Also I feel that there is great potential to grow within the business. Of course, I would recommend others to work at AltaSteel to experience challenging but rewarding work and a good work-life balance.
