Mill Pulpit Operator

My fortunate introduction to AltaSteel was through a friend, a previous employee, who at the time described AltaSteel as a great place to start a career. I have now been with AltaSteel since 2008. 

Prior to AltaSteel my experience was in natural gas manufacturing. I currently work as a Mill Control Pulpit Operator, a position I have been in for 5yrs, having progressed through the Rolling Mill line of progression, from Floor Man, to Finisher and finally onto my current position. Being a Steelworker is a unique trade and profession in its own right, one that I can proudly say I am part of.

The various jobs that make up the steel industry makes it even more attractive, in that an individual has a fair chance to try out and eventually work in one of countless positions. These positions range from the train yard, forklift and other equipment operations to Steelmaking and the Rolling Mill. It’s a stable industry, offering countless work opportunities, with accommodating work schedules and an attractive remuneration and benefits package.
